First Impressions: Saraiya Goyou

ƒvƒŠƒ“ƒgAfter having watched the first 5 episodes of Saraiya Goyou, I can say that I think this series is going to be very strong going forward. This series reminds me slightly of Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu, a series that I find to be very well done. The series seems to like to take things slowly, and flesh out its characters, while also keeping me interested in the drama that is taking place. The series main focus is on the relationship between the main character, Masanosuke, the group of kidnappers known as The Five Leaves, and his interactions with them I can definitely see this series pulling off some amazing moments of writing based on the characteristics of the not only the setting, but also the circumstances surrounding it and the characters. I’m excited to see where this series goes. I have high hopes for this series, and would be delighted if it kept up this level of quality for the rest of the series. I can definitely see some problems with it however, the main character, while interesting and likable, isn’t always that amusing to follow (The series does do a good job of circumventing this however, by detailing and showing the lives and pasts of some of the other important characters). Overall, I would say that I am enjoying this series, and am interested in seeing more of it.
